Steering Column Repair: Steering columm, ford f150, lock cylinder

Question
1989 ford f150 non tilt will start but spring back to off position replaced lock cylinder

Answer
Hello Elver:

Sorry about your truck.
The most common problem with that design is the ignition switch itself.  The contacts go bad inside and cause the positions and spring action to fail.
The ignition switch is mounted on the side of the column, just below the dash.  It is held on by 2 7/16" nuts...very easy to change.  Just remove the access panels below the column (left side especially)
If you need, here is an exploded view of your column, but I don't think you need to go inside it to repair this problem.

You should be able to pick up a switch at any Parts store

I hope this helps you
