Need to remove ignition switch

Answer
Thanks Bill:

If it's a 1992 or newer, it sounds like you are looking at the clockspring...the wire harness for the airbag. I also need to know what year vehicle you are working on.

But let's back up a little.  Are you replacing the electrical part of the ignition switch or the lock cylinder (where the key goes in)?  In either case you do not need to remove the wheel or go into the inside of the column.
Again, please let me know what year you have or....you can go to our company website and view all of the instructions available (for a small fee) to help you with your repair.  These are all ready to download with pictures and descriptions of how to do what you are trying to do.
