Steering Column Repair: Haz light stuck on, hazard lights, signal switch

Question
I have a 93 suburban 4x4 wagon My husband turned the hazard lights on and now they wont shut off. I think the switch is stuck but don't know for sure. My blinker switch was replaced about 2 month ago so I don't think the switch is bad.

Answer
Hi Tina:
If I'm not mistaken, the hazards on your truck are on the side of the column just below the key.  If that's true, and pulling the knob out does not shut them off, then the turns signal switch (that was just replaced) is faulty.  I've had many that give me problems like that...especially the less expensive ones.
The good news is we can shut them off another way.  There are two flashers on your truck, one for 4-ways and one for the signals.  Either remove the flasher for the 4 ways (it's the one that is clicking), or simply remove the fuse for 'hazards' and that will shut off the lights.
The bad news is you will not have stop lights or turn signals until this problem is cured.

I hope this helps you
