Steering Column Repair: Blinkers, turn signal switch, steering column repair

Question
Does the steering column have anything to do with why when i turn and then go straight again the blinker doesn't go off like it should it only does this when i turn left when I go right it goes off after.

Answer
Hello Tristan:

Yes, the problem is in the turn signal switch in the steering column.  You don't say what kind of vehicle you have, but most often this problem occurs on GM vehicles.  Typically, the left signal return spring breaks.
If it is a GM car between 1975 and 1995, you don't have to buy a whole turn signal switch, only the spring.  Our company sells this part. Here is a link to the part page.

Also, we provide instructions on how to rebuild this portion of the column, once again if it is a vehicle in that model and year range.  Here is a link to those pages (either pdf written & pictures, or video instructions are available)
