Steering Column Repair: 95 JEEP Install New Ignition, steering wheel locks, steering wheel puller

Question
Hi!  I have a '95 Jeep Wrangler that I am trying to install a new ignition into.  I had to let her sit for 2 years and now I of course can't find the key, but I have started her up, installed a new fuel pump and she's working great, except the ignition!  I know I need to get a steering wheel pull, but where do I get that and can I install a push button ignition or do I need to have a physical new key made?

I appreciate any help and advise as I am dying to get her redone and out in the dirt!

Thanks so much!

Answer
Hi Randa:

You will want to replace the lock cylinder and have new keys.  The steering wheel locks, and it's much easier to replace the lock than attempting to rewire and rebuild the column and ignition.  Here is a link for a steering wheel puller, but any good parts store will sell the exact same tool (Lisle).

Also, we have recently uploaded some videos on our website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the parts you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the video is for a Chevrolet truck, the column is very similar to yours.
