Steering Column Repair: 94 cadillac deville wiper switch, cadillac deville, chevrolet truck

A couple of days ago my wipers stopped working.  Thought it was the fuse, but that is fine.  Then today there was a little smoke coming for the column.  I pulled the wiper fuse so there wouldn't be any current.  Do I need to replace the wiper switch?  What is the process?

It does sound like the wiper switch has begun to fail (the smoke was the giveaway telltale sign).
We have a series of videos on our company website showing you how to accomplish this replacement.  Although the video is of a Chevrolet truck, the column is almost identical to yours.
