Steering Column Repair: 1984 Monte Carlo SS/1981 Monte Carlo, monte carlo ss, haynes manual

I have a 1981 Monte Carlo that we are using the engine/interior parts from a 1984 SS. We are trying to remove the signal switch from the 84 to install to the 81. How does one remove the wire harness - Haynes manual says to pull through the steering column - no room for that??

Although the Haynes manual is ok for some things, it's a little thin on others.
We have a number of videos on our website that show you exactly how to accomplish the job you are after.  although its' displaying a Chevrolet pickup, the column is identical to yours.
