Steering Column Repair: Truck will not start after attemped theft, lock cylinder, 7 seconds

Question
Does the chevy 2002 silverado's have a theft device that will not let the fuel pump not work? Changed the ignition and sounds like the truck will not get gas.

Hi Steve:
Yes, the 2002 has a Pass-Lock system.  There should be an antitheft light flashing on the dash if you just turn the key on and leave it in the "Run" position.
If it is flashing, let it flash for 10 minutes.  It will then go solid and then go off.  Once it goes off, turn the key off for 7 seconds (no less) and then your truck should start.  If not, then there is more wrong with it than just the lock cylinder.  
If that does not work, send me a picture of the column (with the covers off) & I may be able to see what's wrong.
