Steering Column Repair: steering colum removal, jeep charokee, lock cylinder

i have a jeep charokee 89 4x4 4.0ltr and im tryin to get the ignition switch out i think i need to take off the steering colum can you tell me how to do that.                           THANK YOU

Hi Mike:
Are you referring to the electrical part (the ignition switch) mounted on the steering column tube under the dash, or the where the key goes in (the lock cylinder) mounted in the upper steering column bowl just below the steering wheel?
These are often both called ignition switches, when in fact they are very different parts.  Let me know which one you are after (and WHY) & I can help you with instructions
