Question
i have an 83 chevy silverado and the steering wheel is wobblely i replaced the bearing but the shaft still wobbles what am i doing wrong

Answer
Hi Paul:
You mentioned that you replaced 'the bearing', but I'm not quite sure which bearing you replaced.  There are actually 3 bearings in your column, 2 upper bearings, both mounted in the tilt housing (if it's tilt) and 1 lower bearing on the bottom of the tube outside the firewall.  If any one of these is bad, it will cause excessive movement in the steering wheel.  Also you need to make sure you assembled the upper bearing inner race, crown, spring, spring plate and snap ring properly, otherwise you will have play.  Let me know exactly which column you have and what you have done (specifically) & I will try to help you more
