Auto Glass: 1998 Concorde Glass, concorde glass, 3m window weld

Question
Hi.  I am trying to repair my 1998 Concorde's front right side power window and after taking it apart realize the bracket on the window is broken.  I saw your answer in my research and wondered if you could explain how to replace the bracket.  I can get one from my dealer and he told me to use 3m window weld to put it on.  Is that to attach the metal to metal or the whole thing to the glass.  The two pieces you described are separated could I just glue them back together?  Thank you for your help!
Ben

Answer
Hi Ben,

The glue is used to put the new bracket on the glass.  Getting the old bracket off the glass is not simple.  Here's how I do it.

1.  remove the glass from the door.

2.  place the glass on a work bench with some padding under it.
a large towel or small blanket works fine.

3.  mark the location of the existing bracket.  the new one has to
be located in the exact same spot.  Be safe: mark both sides of
   the glass.

4.  I use a heavy, narrow (@ 2 inches) putty knife blade that I have
sharpened.  I jab it under the metal bracket in several places
until the  bracket starts to bend upward.  Repeat the process on
both sides of the bracket until it comes off.  Continue the
process until you have removed all the left over adhesive as
   well.

5.  now you can glue the new bracket to the glass.  use some
emery cloth to rough up the glass surface before installing the
   new bracket.

If you have any other guestions, just send me a follow up.
