Steering Column Repair: 93 chevy astro ignition, turn signal switch, chevy astro

Question
QUESTION: I need to replace the actuator rod I have dismantled and removed the column as far i can. Where the connection between the rod and the tumblers is i cant get access. please help.

ANSWER: You don't say if it is tilt or non-tilt as they are different column designs.  I'm going to assume it's a tilt column.  My guess is that you have removed the plastic cover for the lock cylinder and turn signal switch, but can't get beyond the tilt housing.  If those assumptions are correct, then respond to this & I will continue to try and help you.  If they are true, you are going to need some special tools to continue, but I can show you some pictures that will help

Thanks Jimmy:
Now that you have removed the tilt spring, you will need to remove the tilt housing using a pin puller of some sort.  They make a real one, but I have seen people use screws and pliers before.  On each side of the housing is a pivot pin that needs to come out.  Then, once the housing is off, you will have access to the rack gear and the actuator rod that you are after.  I must tell you though that putting this back together is very difficult as you will need to align 3-4 things at once while you are assembling it.
I will try to enclose a couple of pictures for you to reference.
I hope I've helped you.  If you think it's too big a job, you can contact my company directly a stolenandrecovered.com & we can rebuild it for you and ship it back.
