Steering Column Repair: broken ignition actuator rod., buick park ave, chevrolet truck

Mr key turn but nothing. pull ever out of the steering column and fine out the rod that turn the ignition and everything else on is broken. what do I do now. do I have to get a whole steering column. Its a 1986 buick park ave Electra. or how to I put a new one in. or what.help

Probably what broke is the rack gear.  I am enclosing a picture here.  We have recently uploaded some videos on our company website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the tilt column you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the videos are for a Chevrolet truck, the column is very similar to yours.
