Steering Column Repair: steering columns, chevy lumina, lumina car

Question
i have a 1994 chevy lumina (car). the steering column has dropped . it appears it has become detatched from above . is there an easy way to reatach it and how?

Answer
hi Chris:
If the column has dropped, then it most likely has partially collapsed and shifted from its mounting brackets.  Once that happens, even if you reinstall it, it will slide out again.  You will probably need to replace the column (a used one will be fine).  When you do, just make sure you are attentive to the airbag system and clockspring / steering wheel position and install the new one in the same position.
