Steering Column Repair: s10 steering column, floor shift, security design

Question
i have a 94' s10 4x4, reg. cab., vortec, floor shift. the turn signal/wiper arm is broken. the wipers don't work. the arm just spins. i thought about just replacing the column with a tilt since the price looks to be the same. or just fix the wipers with another switch if i can find one. seems to be hard to find that year. my question is what years will interchange (switch or column)? also, any good deals out there? thanks a lot!

Answer
well the correct interchange for that truck is 93-94, but this is only because GM changed the security design of the column. You can go with 88-92, but in 88 it was a split year, just make sure on the firewall mounting plate you have 2 holes on top and 2 on bottom, the earlier ones will have 3 on top a 1 on bottom. Now make sure you get a column that has the same type of wipers because a delay wiper switch will not work a non-delay wiper motor.
