Steering Column Repair: Switch steering columns, key cylinder, steering columns

Question
I just switched out steering columns in my 91 Firebird and the new column is in right now. The lights and everything works (blinkers, etc...) but it won't turn over. Is it because of the computer chip on the key? Thanks in advance...

Answer
That's exactly what it is, now it's real easy to swap the lock back to your old without taking the whole column back out, if you know how to swap a key cylinder, get down to that point and fish the wire out that attaches to it, then just use the one out of your old column. If it's damaged (either the wire or the lock) then I will explain how to swap that stuff around, if you need instructions on how to take the column down to take the lock cylinder out, then I will be glad to help with that too.
