Question
I have a 1989 Dodge Ram Charger with tilt steering wheel 2 wheel drive, I have trouble in the past with this truck every year when the weather gets hot, my left blinker doesnt wana work, and when i drive my truck for a couple of hours, and i get out somewhere like to pick up something from the store really quick, and i turn my truck off for like 15 minutes, and get back in the truck it doesnt wana turn over, after like 2 hours then it starts up, the top left side of my steering column also gets hot, i also have working a/c in the truck as well. What do you think, I have a feeling its something with the column...??

Answer
Hi Lewis:
You have 2 problems.
1) You need a turn signal switch.  The grease inside the switch shorts out the contacts when it gets hot.  I would also replace the flasher at the same time to insure a constant draw for the new switch.
2) You need a starter.  when it gets hot, the armature windings swell and prevent the starter from spinning freely.  This is a very common problem.  Replacing the starter will cure that.

Good luck
