Steering Column Repair: ignition, great big kiss, strange problem

Question
1997 Olds Acheiva. Strange problem with ignition.  Lately the key refuses to release itself from the ignition.  It appears to be stuck.  I can't make any sense of it.  It can happen if I only drive a block,or 10 blocks.  I've done all but kick it, and I'm about ready to try that.  lol.  My husband seems to think if he 'waits' long enuf   ?  it will eventually release the key,and it will IF you have lots and lots of patience, like I don't have. lol. but there's no definite consistency.  The refusal of the key to release happens about 85-90% of the time.  Very annoying!  One can't get in hurry.  it seems to have a mind of its own!  Would it be harmful to use graphite or something similar?  Any ideas?

Thanks   Jan,

Answer
Hello Jan,
You hit the nail on the head. Go to a local hardware store and pick up a small tube of lock graphite. It will solve the problem. And then, after you've handled the graphite and have it all over your hands, go in and grab your husband by the face (smear it all over), and give him a great big kiss. If you're sneaky enough, he won't know it when you send him to the store for something.

:-)

Ahhh...  I hope that helps?
Have a great day!
