Steering Column Repair: Steering wheel lock, dodge ram truck, steering wheel lock

I replaced the heater core, which required dismantling the dashboard in my 1997 Dodge Ram truck.  Now the steering lock does not work.  How can I fix it?  Thanks.

Hello Casey,
I can't be for certain with your message what may be wrong, but I would suspect the locking pin is stuck in the unlock position from years of oily dust clogging the hole the pin sits in. If it gets pushed in slightly further than the accumilation of crud, the crud lodges the pin in the unlock position. You'll need to disassemble it and clean it up to make it work again.
