Steering Column Repair: Electrical Problem, chev blazer, electrical drawing

Question
I have 1989 Chev Blazer. The problem, when you drive down the road, it just shuts down. When you move the tilt steering wheel, it will energize the electrical system. At this point, you can get the engine to come to life and the vehicle back on the road.

I have reviewed chassis electrical system. The electrical drawing indicates that in could be the ignition switch or the PNK wire that runs to the ignition coil.

I would to know if this has been a problem with this type of vehicle. Could you please give your impute on what you be the problem could be.

Thank you

Answer
Hello Alan,
You probably have a problem with the ignition switch. It may have been caused by the switch being out of adjustment causing a contact to burn internally. Try replacing the switch assembly, and making sure of the alignment.
Hope that helps.
Have a great day!
