Steering Column Repair: 90 Eagle Talon Power Steering Fluid Leak, power steering fluid leak, power steering fluid

Question
Jay

Subject car is a 1990 Eagle Talon, non-Turbo.

My power steering fluid is leaking pretty bad. I need to fill up every week. I can see the leak coming from the bellow boot. Can the bellow boot be replaced and fix the leak? Or do I need to replace the rack and pinion assembly to get it fixed?

I would appreciate any feedback.

Answer
Hello Vincent,
The boot is only to keep contaminants from the rack. If there is fluid coming from the boot, the seals need replacing in the rack. You could probably find a rebuilt unit from the local parts store at a reasonable price. I don't suggest used because it could last a week and go out.
Hope that helps.
Have a great day!
