Steering Column Repair: Column Shroud, column internals, steering wheel

Question
Can you tell me how to remove the plastic shroud that covers the column internals on a 05 Sierra. I want to change the black shroud to a tan one to match the interior, but I don't want to damage anything in the process. Removal of steering wheel/ airbag is not a problem if necessary. Thanks

Hello Terry,
The easiest way to tell how the cover is attached is to look at the tan one. Look for ears or holes that indicate some mounting point(s). It's usually a screw or two and some tabs to keep it in place, but I think the 05 had screws toward the front.
