Question -
Jay,
I have a 1967 malibu manual column shift. Three on the column, standard 250 engine. The shifting is extremely loose. I would like to buy a rebuilt one or find someone who could fix mine. Is there anyway you could help me?

Hello Timm,
I'm not sure what you mean when you say the shifting is extremely loose. A common problem with those models was the linkages become worn making the shift column feel like it was loose. Also check the bolts on the link arms on the transmission itself.
A column for this model is readily available, but I would check the linkages first. I bet you will find the problem there.
Have a great day!

Answer
Hello Again Timm,
The column for the 66-67 Chevelle is the same as the 66-67 Cutlass, Skylark and few other intermediate sized GM cars, so that is why I say they are readily available. The first place I would try is an online salvage yard search at Google.
http://www.google.com/search?q=1967+chevelle+steering+column&hl=en&lr=&start=0&s

You will also see links to classic car websites like:

http://www.ss396.com
http://www.chevelles.com

Both of these are good places for resources.
Finally, if you check out eBay searches, you may find one at a far more reasonable rate. It may take longer to find one on eBay, but there is currently one listed at this link:

Here's something from ss396.com:

I hope that helps.
Have a great day!
