Steering Column Repair: Steering column, drift pin, mercury sable

Hi Pete,
 I bought a 1996 mercury sable for my son.
the rod in the steering column from the ignition
is broke. We manually start with the box w/ switch under the dash on bottom of column. I purchased a column from salvage yard without steering wheel. Keep in mind I will obviously have to put steering wheel on new column. Now my question. What is the easiest way to do all of this?

you will see a univrials going threw the fire wall thire is a drift pin you will have to knowck it out with a punch.
then thire is 4 bolts holding the colluim under the dash remove then colluim will pull right out.

And on plug the wires in colluim .
