Steering Column Repair: 87 Cadillac FWD removing steering column, haynes manual, spread plastic

Hi I have to replace the steering column, My haynes manual does not cover this. It looks pretty easy but any tips tricks or be carefulls

Hi,

Block wheels. Turn steering whell to right so spokes are faving windshield and floor. Remove hush panel from under dash. Remove dash plate below column. On right side of lower shift bowl under dash remove string and clip for PRNDL. Take large screwdriver under dash and spread plastic boot downward so you can get to the 11 mm bolt that is at the pinch point where the column shafts connect.Remove bolt. Take scewdriver and pound lightly with hammer to split pinch joint. Disconnect wiring. Remove shift cable by prying straight away from connector. Has ball crank. Remove the two rearward attaching bolts. Remove two nuts from steering column bracket at dash. Just the opposite for reinstall.
