Subaru Repair: wiper fluid, windshield wipers, subaru legacy

Question
The windshield wipers on my Subaru Legacy work, but the wiper fluid does not.  I checked the fuse and it is good.  What else do I try and how do I fix it?

Answer
Hey Crystal,

If you can hear the pump come on but nothing comes out the lines may be clogged.  If you don't hear the pump come on, most likely the pump has failed but if you have the capabilities you should verify a good signal from the switch to the pump first.  The pump is pretty easy to get at and since you didn't mention year, sedan, wagon etc. or front or rear it's hard to give pin point instructions.

The older legacy wagons have one pump in the rear and one in the front.  The newer wagons all have two pumps in the tank in the engine compartment. The pumps all have two wires to them a ground and power signal.  A test light and a freindly person to operate the switch while you check for a signal to the washer pump is all that is needed to diagnose your problem.
