Subaru Repair: 1998 Impreza Clock Spring, clock spring, subaru dealership

Question
Hi.  My airbag light has come on and my horn has stopped working.  The
local mechanic (there's no proper Subaru dealership in town) tells me it's the
"clock spring" and that Subaru would replace an entire part for about $700
cdn.  He's trying to find a used spring for me.  $700 seems like a lot for a
spring.  Would this be covered by warranty?  Are there other options?

Thanks.

Answer
You can do a search for an air bag speialist. They are typically mobile and should be able to come to you.Maybe at least verify the price.Hard for me to say if its the proper price for your neck of the woods. The warranty unless you have an extended one only covers the airbag for 3yrs.I wouldn't suggest a used one if you got in an accident an the airbag didn't operate properly .Well that wouldn't be good
