Subaru Repair: warrantee, subaru legacy gt, oil filter manufacturer

Question
We have an 05 Subaru Legacy Gt with 50,000 miles on it. Just recently it started to make a whining noise and the check engine light came on and the cruise control light started blinking. We brought it right home. I first checked the belt it was fine, then checked the oil level and that was good to. We brought it to the Subaru dealer we bought it from who has a 5 year 60,000 miles powertrain warrantee and they said that we need a new crankshaft, pistons, and turbo and it will not be covered because the engine was starved for oil. How can they not cover it? The oil level was perfect and it has always been changed every 3000 miles.

Answer
Wow thats a new one to me .Did the Stealer offer up what code had been set ?Im not sure how they could have stated on the repair order it was starved for oil if the level was ok, but if it had a failed aftermarket oil filter than that is possible, and you would need to take this up with the oil filter manufacturer. Thats a not much fun situation and please keep me posted as i am not aware of ANY other 2.5l turbo with an issue.
