Subaru Repair: Buying a 98 Forester, engine valves, drive auto

Question
There is a 1998 forester for sale that I am considering buying.  The car has 150,000 miles and the guy selling it said he redid the top half of the engine (valves).  What should my concerns be?  Is 150,000 miles approaching the end of the cars life or will it run for another 100,000 miles?  Any input you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
In a normal situation with routine maintenance a Subaru can and will go 300k .I currently have 292k on my 94 legacy. But that being said you should really have it inspected buy some one who knows Subaru and make sure any car you buy is on the up and up.Concerns on that car would be if the valves had to be done as a result of the timing belt breaking ? Which would indicate a bad pattern as far as vehicle maintenance habits go.And would be one i would steer you away from if that is the case.I hope that helps you .
