Subaru Repair: Check Engine, light thanks, indpendent

Question
My check engine light has been going on and off now for about 2 weeks.  My dad (who drove the 2000 Outback before me) said this happened every year around this time with changing temperatures and whatnot.  The car has been running fine and the check engine light has been going off on occasion.  Normally I wouldn't worry about it, but I'm planning on taking a 3 hour trip in a couple of days and am worried about the distance.  Should I be ok since I haven't noticed any difficulties other than the light?

Thanks.

Answer
Most likely, it is not a big deal, but I would recomend getting it checked. Your fathers Subaru may have had another problem, but it is not normal for the light to come on and off based on outside temp or how many miles you have driven. Try you local Advance Auto, Autozone or some other indpendent parts store if the dealership isnt a good option. Around here, alot of the independent parts stores witll check for codes at no charge. Wouldnt buy anything just yet based on what they say. Try me back here with the code, or on my email at spwilkins@yahoo.com and I bet we can figure out whats going on.
