Subaru Repair: Subaru Forester Timing Belt/waterpump, subaru forester, timing belt change

Question
1998 Subaru Forester, Auto, 85K, 2.5L.  What is the average shop charge for a timing belt change.  If I have the water pump changed at the same time should a get charged double or just for the waterpump (the timing belt has to be removed anyway?

Answer
Hello Mark,

At our shop we get about 4 hrs labor for just the t-belt. With the water pump, I believe it's 4.8 hrs. As long as you are doing it all at the same time, the times overlap. If you haven't already had the seals replaced I would do that also. There is 1 crank seal, and 4 cam seals. If they are not leaking yet, they will eventually. I hope this helps.

                     Thanks,
