Suzuki Repair: Transfer Case Lever Stuck, transfer case lever, suzuki sierra

Question
Hi,hope you can help.I moved my Suzuki Sierra '87 model,a small distance backwards in 4WD low to get it back on the street. When I was in the street I tried to move the lever back to 2WD high but it would only go half-way.The transfer case is in neutral(no drive) but when I jacked one wheel to relieve wind-up ,the wheels are actually in 4WD.(Front & rear prop shafts are locked together).
No amount of force on the lever would move it.I tried rolling the car back and forth, jacking 2 wheels of the ground and running the engine with gearbox in gear. No luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated, but I'm thinking I have to drop out the transfer case and strip it. Thanks .Gary.

Answer
I think the sierra is the same as the samurai.  If so, neutral is four wheel drive, just not connected to the trans.  It may be possible to "mess around" and get it re-engaged.  Don't pass up looking at where the lever goes into the transfer case.  It may be possible to move the forks with a screwdriver.
