Towing Issues: Towing issue, chp office, small claims court

The CHP arrested my son for DUI and towed his truck. Can the tow co. charge for the tow plus $200. an hour for four hours while the police searched the vehicle for a total of $1000. to pick up the truck the same day? (Humboldt County CA)

Well according the the police department - tow company contracts (each CHP office has different rates for the services) I can see the bill getting up there with the standby for the search.

Remember that in most cases, the rates charged are based on an hourly rate, from the time that the truck starts on the call to the time that the call is finished and the truck is available for the next call..
