Towing Issues: Looting contents of a vehicle?, storage yard, tow trucks

Question
Back in January my wife's car was towed here in Bradenton and when we got the car back there was about a thousand dollars worth of items missing from the vehicle including a camera and a pair of titanium-framed sunglasses. The police filed a report, but didn't interview anyone and their report says, "Suspects: None." Is this common? More and more people I've talked to are telling me that getting towed pretty much automatically means you lose the contents of your vehicle and police don't care about property crime. Is that just the way it works? I hadn't ever been towed, so I hadn't come across the "tow-tax" before.

Answer
Sorry to hear this happened after you were towed, but while its not a normal thing to have things come up missing, it does happen from time to time,

Reason that I say that, is that there are some dishonest people in the world and while most do not drive tow trucks there are sometimes one or two who do.

But remember that your vehicle as also towed to a storage yard and while they might have fences, lights, cameras, dogs or what have you, there are always people who think they want what others have.

Our storage yard here where I work got broke into recently by someone just driving though the gate and taking stuff out of other vehicles. They hopped the fence and then used a vehicle to get back out instead of climbing with their hands full.

Now you might check with your insurance company as they might cover the theft but who knows.

Suspects none is really true in many thefts in cases like this.

TOW TAX   lol Had to laugh at that one, and no theft from the vehicle is not a tax.
