Towing Issues: Tow Passengers, tow company, hagerstown md

Question
My boyfriends truck was towed in Hagerstown MD (Washington County) When the flat bed truck arrived, loaded the truck, and left us riding in the passenger truck while he towed us..... IS THIS LEGAL? Also, what grounds do I have to ask for the $125 it cost to tow us to the house?

Answer
Well I am not aware of any law prohibiting the passengers in a towed vehicle with the exception of in California.

BUT morally, ethically it is wrong. And unsafe in my eyes and most likely any police officer.

But with that being said, I can not understand why people complain when a tow truck shows up that has room for the driver and 2 other people and they are in a SUV or Minivan with 4 to 8 passengers in it.

Did you tell the tow company or motor club how many people were there to go with the vehicle. Or did you consider that a tow truck is not a taxi and really our insurance companies do not really allow for anyone else in the truck but the vehicle driver.

Was there a way you could of called a friend to come pick up the passengers or even call a taxi.

Now as to getting the money back???  I do not understand that question. Who do you want to get the money back from your boyfriend, or a motor club or insurance company???
Why do you think that you should get money back???

Tow trucks do charge for the service provided, as they are a private business not a taxpayer supported business like police or fire departments.
