Towing Issues: I believe an illegal towing, small claims court, tow yard

My car was towed and I dont believe it was tagged. Manager at tow yard showed me pics that it was tagged on the 18th, towed on the 20th, but writing on my windshield from them says the 19th. Aren't they supposed to give you 48 hrs? He claims this was a mistake.

well depending on the location (City and or State) will be the answers for if it is legal or not...


Now giving a warning is not real good and effective, as it does not solve the problem of illegal parking. The vehicle is still there and that is the whole reason for towing the vehicle.

Times on the vehicle will generally be there for the tow company employees to be able to track the vehicle better in their paperwork or system.

Now why was the vehicle towed. Was it a mistake that they took it, or was it parked illegally and towed for that reason. That will be one key factor in this answer and in what you can do as a result.
There is always the right for you to go to small claims court and contest the tow.
