Towing Issues: rates for having vehicle towed, flatbed tow trucks, florissant mo

my van broke down in Florissant MO. So I called the service station that I use for inspections and repairs and ask if they have towing service they said they do then I ask what it would cost they stated that it would be 45.00 to hook up and .20 cents per mile. The tow truck arrived with my van then charged me 70.00 to hook up and 4.00 per mile when ask he said that it was because my van is awd. Is this so, does it cost more to tow awd or 4wd?

well as a basic answer, yes all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive is more expensive to tow as it requires either the use of a dolly where the tow truck lifts one end and they place special wheel lifting devices which lift the other end.

Or they use flatbed tow trucks to do the job.

But that rate does not sound as bad as others that I have heard.
