Towing Issues: recker, dodge 2500 diesel, ford f550

Question
hello just bought a 2000 ford f550 with a century 311/312 bed on it.  here's the problem.  this is my first wrecker live in a small town own a body shop got a wrecker maybe will get a wreck.  ok tried the other day to pick up a 2005 dodge 2500 diesel would not pick it up from the front had to get it from the rear. shouldnt this thing pick it up?  what are a few things i can check and replace.  no one around here works on these or knows nothing about them.  please help thanks

Answer
Well it sounds like the front of the dodge was over the capacity of the wheel lift you were using.
That is a common problem where you are fully extended and trying to pick up a heavy load. And the front of a 3/4 ton truck with a diesel engine is very heavy.

Now the other possibility is that the hydraulic system of the tow truck is not full of fluid, or the filter is being restricted due to it needing to be changed.

Not sure where you are located but there are many dealers which work and sell tow trucks.
