Towing Issues: Towing laws, fire lane, t park

Question
My car was towed last night just after 11:00.  I had been parked in front of my mothers mobile home, Where parking is allowed all day long.  After contacting the towing company, they informed me that I couldn't park there after 10:00 p.m. because it was a fire lane.  I have not seen any signs posted to that fact and there is no red painted curbs anywhere on the street. Can they really tow me legally?

Answer
I don't know what state you are in, but most states do not allow parking in a Fire Zone at all. It is required in every state that I know of that it be clearly posted for any parking regulations. Did the police authorize the tow or was it a private property tow? If it was private property they have to have a signed towing authorization. I would recommend taking photos of the area that you were parked also.
