Towing Issues: apartment complex towed truck, expired registration, rental agreements

I registered my vehicle online on 6/30.  I received my stickers yesterday 7/6.  My apartment complex towed my truck for the registration being expired  for only 7 days.  I have my stickers and my proof of renewing.  Is this legal?

In some areas property owners are prohibited from towing vehicles for expired registration - TAGS and in some areas it is legal.

Also in most lease - rental agreements, there are provisions which state that vehicles have to be "STREET LEGAL and LICENSED" in order to be on the property.
