Towing Issues: towing with a 1991 Dodge Dakota, dodge dakota club, auto transport companies

Question
I just inherited a 1991 Dodge Dakota club cab v8 rwd,
and a 2003 Infinity m45. Both are located in Saint Louis, Mo.
My plan was to fly there, rent a car hauler from Uhaul and tow the infinity with the Dakota back to California
Went to the uhaul web page. They say the Dakota to to light. But the towing capacity is supposed to be 5500 lbs.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

Answer
Seriously, my best suggestion is having both or one of the vehicles transported back with a auto transporter. You can get free shipping quotes from most auto transport companies. It's possible to tow the vehicle back with modifications to the Dodge such as coolers, springs, w/d hitch, etc. but the huge limiting factor for my suggestion is the Rocky Mountains. The mountains will definitely strain the Dodge and safety is the BIGGEST concern. For less than the modifications, added fuel expense, rental, etc. you could get the Infinity back to CA. Do your research with the shipping company as some are better than others. Don't always look at the cheapest, you pay for what you get! If possible deal with the transporter, transport company directly than going through a broker. Good luck and be safe
