Towing Issues: insurance paying tow bills, towing association, towing company

Question
I own a towing company in Washington state and recently I have had to insurance company's refuse to pay towing and storage bills stating they were sending the titles for the vehicles is there a law that prohibits them from doing so and if not why would any insurance company ever pay for totally destroyed vehicles if the could abandon them and pay nothing

Answer
Many years ago, the executive director of the Washington Tow Truck Association, Art Langley ( also a lawyer) helped create an "anti dumping law" which means that vehicles can not be abandoned by insurance companies in Washington. It was very effective at the time, but I have not worked in Washington since 1992 so I am really out of touch with the current laws up there...

Best answer I can give is for you to talk to the towing association up there and see what they say... Yes they are there to help you and to protect the industry.  The membership dues that they charge really do pay of in benefits...

That or you can talk to one of the big towers in the area and see what they say... I do not know where you are so I can not help you with specific people to talk to...
