Towing Issues: R.V. trailer towing isuses, dodge ram 1500, factory tires

Question
I tow a 29' travel trailer with a '07 Dodge Ram 1500, factory tow package with 3.96 gears and a 5.7 hemi.  I have the trailer loaded properly and use a four way weight distributing hitch with sway control.  I have plenty of power and braking is no issue, I really have lots of sway and feel I have no control.  I have factory 20" tires and no anti sway bars or overload leaf springs.

What Do I add to the truck to gain more control.  I feel it is the tires but I do not know for sure.

Answer
You are correct. Most sway problems come from the sidewalls of the tires flexing. The more air put in a tire the stiffer the sidewalls (and ride) become. My recommendation is finding E range/load tires that will handle higher tire air pressures, 60 psi and above. Also more plies the better, a 10 ply should work good. There is a huge trade off, the truck's ride will greatly diminish! That whole give and take issue here. Don't try over inflating the OEM/factory tires! I also suggest rear air bags. Air bags will not help the sway issue but will help with the longevity and supplement the rear springs. Air bags work better than overload springs because with the stiffer tires and stiffer springs the unloaded back end of the truck can jump around with big bumps in the road. Air bags can be deflated when unloaded. If there is still a lot of undesirable sway then it's time for a dually.
