Towing Issues: Towing for Inspection sticker?, inspection sticker, acceptable condition

Question
I was driving out of my condo association office's parking lot this afternoon when one of the guys who worked there parked me in so he could talk to me (he's a creep). He came over to tell me that if I didn't have a state inspection sticker in my front window (I just moved and haven't gotten it done yet), he could have my car towed just like if I didn't have a proper parking sticker (which I do).

Can a private company (or private individual, for that matter) have a private towing company tow my car for a state vehicle maintenance infraction? That doesn't seem at all kosher to me.

Answer
Check over your rental contract as to the terms and conditions on parking. I think you may find something stating the vehicle must be currently licensed, registered and in proper or acceptable condition. Most acceptable condition also falls under current inspection. It is not just your complex but most complexes I know of have the same regulations. IMO, just get it done immediately because they are watching and will save you a lot time and grief (police and parking) in the long run.
