Towing Issues: Towing veh from gated apt, palm beach police department, beach police department

Question
my sister gave me her car and I had not changed the titled yet.  The car had a legal reg. & tag from another county.  The car was inop. The complex put letters on each door on Oct. 10th advising all veh backed up would be towed.  I arrived home on the 10th after the office was closed.  The ltr adv. due to stolen veh parked on property West Palm Beach Police department told them they would tow these veh. along with all veg backed up in the parking lot.  The next day my car was towed.  I want to know why there was why there is no time period given for residents to talk to the complex before veh are removed and what action can i take to get my veh returned to me for illegal towing I hope in Florida.  Several residents had their cars towed that were guests also.  On the 16th, Thursday, the complex sent a documents of rules and regs for the complex to explain all the changes but I say its a little late if you have already towed residents cars.  I know I am responsible for registering the veh but I did not have the finances to fix it and I thought as long as the tag and registration were legal and the care was not blocking another veh it would be okay for it ot be parked where I reside.

Answer
Linda,

It sounds like a tricky situation. You may not have been aware of the apartments parking regulation, but they were probably in place for a few years if not more. An inoperable vehicle is often subject to be towed immediately. I would suggest trying to get a price break from the tow company, but I wouldn't expect it.

Sorry for the bad news
