Towing Issues: Towing of stolen vehicle, cincinati ohio, towing company

Question
I have a car that was stolen in May of last year. The car was taken to Ohio. The car was found in Cincinati, Ohio January of this year. Well we just found out from towing company less than a week ago. They now want a four thousand dollars for the bill of having it so long. Isn't their a law that says they have to notify the owner within 5 days.

Answer
You should have been contacted the second your car was found, by the police. If not, YES the towing company must notify you or they can not charge you storage after the first 5 to 9 days. Varies by state. I really don't understand why the police did not contact you ASAP when the VIN# was run. It should have come up in the data base. I'd follow up on this. Best of luck to you.
