Towing Issues: towing, drive shaft, car hauler

Question
I have a Toyota tacoma 2002 prerunner sr5 2.7 4cyl.auto.I want to tow a car that weighs about 1800 pounds with either a tow bar tow dollie. I just need to do this 1 time for about 800 miles. The car is a 1928 dodge coupe without a motor. What would you say is the best way to tow this. Thanks Dave Schott 954-830-1819 or what would be the best solution Thanks Dave

Answer
Joe,
Can you tell me if the drive shaft is out? If this is in the original condition, keep in mind, cars didn't really go that fast back in 1928!! You may pull the drive shaft (if in) and tow from the front. Your going 800 miles, you have to remember the car wasn't make to 'roll' very fast.

If mine, the best way would be to get a 'car hauler' You can get a good wrecker service to winch it on to the all wheels off the ground car hauler. To unload it, get weight in the back in, tongue up and a few strong arms to push it off.

Check with U-haul or Budget to rent a car hauler. Sometimes it's best to just tell them your towing an AWD car rather than go into details. Both should rent one way.

Nice older car, is it going to be refurbished? Good luck.
