Towing Issues: Car Towing Issues, bluebook value, tow truck company

Question

the front
My car was towed because I parked in a teacher's spot on campus and the teacher had my car towed. The tow truck company wrecked my car really bad and they only want to give me $1000. I do not have insurance and my tags were bad so I was wondering could I still sue?

Answer
Okay, this is one of the few questions where the tow was called for by the laws. I have to wonder if your car was strapped down or not. They seem to feel their offer is fair, you don't. They may be willing to give you the $750.00 extra dollars. All towing companies MUST have on hook insurance, you may talk to them about filing a claim, which they don't want. Then again if you go to small claims courts are you willing to take the back lash of 1.No Insurance, 2. Bad tag and third, parking in a spot reserved for teachers. Prior to parking, you were driving illegally, you avoided any tickets by being towed! How rare... A case of the company actually helping a motorist! I would personally try to get the total value of the vehicle & let it go with that. As for your question about suing, everyone has that right, with the other information you've given me, it would not be wise to draw any more attention to the laws you were breaking. Had everything on your vehicle been legal my answer would be 'go for it'. However, not in your case. Sure this isn't what you wanted to hear, sorry.
Good Luck,
