Towing Issues: TOWING, pep boys, cherry hill nj

Question
QUESTION: MY CAR WAS SITTING ON A PEP BOYS LOT FOR AWHILE AND WAS TOW.  WAS IT LEGAL THAT IT WAS TOWED OUT OF STATE?

ANSWER: Ah, well that can be a loaded question... But I would need to know what state it happened in first of all as you did not tell me that "Important piece of information"

But it does sound a bit funny, but then again there are Cities where the state line goes right down the middle of the street and it might be legal there, but I would think that you have to keep it in state though  (personal thought here)

QUESTION: It was in  Cherry Hill, NJ ( Southren Jersey) and towed to Rye, New York

Answer
I can not see how they can "legally" impound the vehicle from private property in New Jersey and take it to New York... I tried to find Rye New York on my maps, and it shows something the other side of New York City...

Now this does sound real fishy, since it was "abandoned" at the Pep Boys lot for a while and then was towed... Hopefully you can resolve this issue but it sounds like an illegal impound to me...
