Towing Issues: Toyota 4 Runner vs Toyota Highlander, 2007 toyota highlander, highlander 4

We are looking for a new (to us used car) and wanted to know your thoughts on a 2007 Toyota 4 Runner vs a 2007 Toyota Highlander.  We would like to tow a 2 horse trailer and 1 (one) horse with whatever vehicle is the best. Thanks

The Highlander is a little wider than the 4 Runner. A larger engine is best for the safety of your horses (and you!) Better fuel milage while in tow. Check both, since buying used for the trailer hitch towing ability, the plug that is used to connect your trailer lights.
Is the Highlander 4 wheel drive? Think about where you'll be towing the horses to, will you need the 4WD? Hopes this helps, feel free to repost if you would like another opinion. Be sure to had, where you are going to be driving to & from.
